DRUCK Temperature Calibrators – fast, clean & traceable temperature checks

DRUCK temperature calibrators are precise block calibrators (dry-wells) for calibrating RTD/PRT, thermocouples and thermistors—from mobile field service to workshop-based QA. They combine fast ramps, stable control and user-friendly operation with interfaces for data logging and calibration software.

Key features (model-dependent): interchangeable precision sleeves/inserts, external reference input (PRT/RTD), multi-channel measurement, ramp/soak, auto stability check, USB/LAN (some Bluetooth), CSV/PDF export and optional factory/DAkkS certificates.

ICS Schneider Messtechnik supports selection, sleeve/insert design, point plans, uncertainty budgeting and supplies traceable references with certificates on request.

FAQ on DRUCK Temperature Calibrators

Answers on applications, accuracy, sleeves, immersion, documentation, integration and best practices.

Where do DRUCK dry-wells shine?

For on-site calibrations without liquids: clean, portable and quick to set up—ideal for maintenance, commissioning and audits.

Which sensor types can be calibrated?

RTD/PRT (e.g., Pt100/Pt1000), thermocouples (Type K/J/T/N …) and NTC/PTC thermistors; optionally verify indicators/instruments via mV/Ω.

What do stability, uniformity and accuracy mean?

Stability = temporal fluctuation; uniformity = spatial evenness in the insert; accuracy = deviation from true value, established with an external reference.

Why use an external reference probe?

The block display may not equal the tip temperature of the DUT. A PRT/RTD placed close to the DUT minimizes gradient and coupling errors and improves traceability.

How do I choose the right sleeve/insert?

Bore = probe Ø + 0.1…0.2 mm with full-depth contact. Materials: aluminum/copper up to ~300 °C, Inconel/stainless for higher temperatures. Multi-hole sleeves separate reference and DUT(s).

How much immersion depth is required?

At least 15–20× the probe diameter or beyond the sensing element. For short probes use extension/deep sleeves and insulation caps to limit convection.

What practical point plans work well?

Example: −20/0/50/100/150/200 °C, each with a stability criterion (60–300 s, ΔT window) and up/down runs for hysteresis checks.

Do the calibrators support ramp/soak and auto stability?

Yes—model-dependent ramp/hold profiles and automatic stability checks (time/ΔT) provide reproducible measurement points.

How should I calibrate RTD/PRT correctly?

Use 4-wire measurement, keep test current low (to limit self-heating), allow sufficient stabilization time, and provide strain relief for cables.

What should I watch for with thermocouples?

Enable cold-junction compensation on the indicator/calibrator or measure a reference CJC; ensure the hot junction has a tight thermal fit in the sleeve.

How do I build an uncertainty budget?

Combine contributions from reference accuracy, stability, uniformity, indicator resolution, self-heating, heat loss and repeatability; report expanded with k=2.

What documentation can I generate?

As-found/as-left, point lists, time/ΔT criteria, ambient data (T/RH), and the traceability chain; export as PDF/CSV, optional e-signature/audit trail via software.

How do I integrate the calibrators with IT/QM systems?

Via USB/LAN (some Bluetooth), supported protocols/SCPI and calibration software for jobs, point sequences and certificates with CMMS/CAQ connectivity.

Is there suitable accessories for special tasks?

Multi-hole sleeves, insulation caps, probe holders, reference PRT (DAkkS), mini-TC connectors, cables, carry cases and bath media (for liquid-bath setups).

What safety aspects apply in operation?

Burn protection, stable placement, keep over-temperature protection active, use appropriate PPE; remove hot sleeves only with suitable tools.

How often should I recalibrate?

Typically annually; for critical QA semi-annual/quarterly. After transport/service, perform an interim check (e.g., ice/fixed points).

Do you assist with selection & procedures?

Yes—we size the model/temperature range, design sleeves, prepare templates (ramp/soak, stability windows), define the uncertainty budget and provide factory/DAkkS certificates.
