Dual-Channel Digital Panel Meters
Dual-channel digital panel meters measure two independent input signals simultaneously, convert them digitally, and display both values on one or two LED displays. Typical supported signal types include combinations such as current loop (e.g. 4–20 mA), resistance, voltage, temperature sensors (PT100/PT1000), thermocouples, or other common industrial signals. With scalable displays, independent configuration for each channel, and optional analog or relay outputs per channel, they are ideal when two process variables need to be monitored or compared — for example temperature and pressure, differential measurements, or redundant sensing.
Questions & Answers
When is using a dual-channel panel meter useful?
When two measurement variables must be monitored or displayed simultaneously — e.g. temperature and pressure, level and flow, or redundant sensors — and both values need to be visible at the same time.
Which input signal types are supported?
Depending on the model, combinations such as 4–20 mA / 0–20 mA, resistance, voltage, PT100 / PT1000, thermocouples, shunt-based current, or other sensors are supported — with two channels independently configurable or jointly used.
Can each channel be configured independently?
Yes — each channel can be configured separately: input type, scaling, engineering units, decimal point, filter, analog or relay outputs can be set individually per channel.
How are the measurement values displayed?
The values for both channels are shown either on separate displays or on one display with dual readout (e.g. Channel A / Channel B), depending on the device design. Both readings are available simultaneously.
Are there separate analog or relay outputs for each channel?
Depending on the model, each channel may have its own analog output and relay output. This allows both measurements to be forwarded individually to control systems or used for alarm/logic functions.
What display formats are common?
Usually 4- or 5-digit LED displays are used, sometimes with selectable color (e.g. red, green, orange). Digit heights of around 10 mm or 14 mm are typical; brightness can often be adjusted for readability.
How is configuration done?
Configuration is made via a front keypad. Users can set for each channel input type, scaling, unit, decimal point, filtering, and output behavior (analog/relay) without needing to open the cabinet door.
For what applications are dual-channel meters especially suitable?
They are particularly useful in applications where two process parameters must be monitored simultaneously — e.g. measuring temperature and pressure together, performing differential or comparison measurements, using redundant sensors for safety, or monitoring multiple variables in parallel.
What supply voltages are common?
Common supply options are 24 VDC (galvanically isolated) or universal power supplies (e.g. 100–240 VAC), depending on the device model and its functionality.
What panel cut-out sizes are typical?
Devices are built for standard control-cabinet cutouts — e.g. 96×48 mm, 72×36 mm or 96×24 mm — depending on the display format and functionality.
