Hydrotechnik Pressure Sensors – Rugged Analog Transmitters for Mobile & Stationary Use
Hydrotechnik pressure sensors are built for tough environments in hydraulics, pneumatics, test benches and field service. They deliver stable, continuous signals via 4–20 mA or 0–10 V—ideal for integration into PLC/DAQ systems and mobile data acquisition. Depending on the model, they use piezoresistive, thin-film or ceramic measuring cells. Wetted parts in stainless steel 316L, high shock/vibration resistance and ingress protection up to IP67/IP69K ensure reliable operation.
ICS Schneider Messtechnik supports selection & sizing, materials and seal choice, the right process connection and provides ISO/DAkkS calibration. On request, we integrate your measuring points into DCS/SCADA or IIoT (edge, MQTT/HTTPS)—including documentation and commissioning.
FAQ on Hydrotechnik Pressure Sensors (Analog)
Key points on selection, signals, accuracy, connections, EMC, calibration and field use.
Which output signals are available?
| Signal | Wiring | Benefits | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4–20 mA | 2-wire | Very noise-immune, long cable runs | Industrial/process, mobile DAQ |
| 0–10 V | 3-wire | Simple evaluation | HVAC/OEM, test benches |
What measuring ranges are covered?
From vacuum to high pressure in the triple-digit MPa range (model dependent). Sizing rule of thumb: working pressure × 1.3–2.0; choose higher for pulsation/spikes.
How accurate are the sensors?
Typically ±0.25…1.0% FS, depending on cell type and temperature span. For QA/test, choose variants with a tight Total Error Band (TEB).
Which process connections are common?
| Connection | Standard | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| G 1/4, G 1/2 | ISO 228 | Industrial standard |
| ¼″ / ½″ NPT | ASME | Tapered, self-sealing |
| M14×1.5 / M20×1.5 | ISO metric | Hydraulics/test benches |
What about media compatibility?
Wetted parts typically 316L; seals FKM/EPDM/PTFE/FFKM per media and temperature. For aggressive media, use special alloys or a diaphragm seal.
How do I protect against pressure spikes and cavitation?
Install snubbers/orifices, capillary sections or a diaphragm seal. Also enable measurement damping in your controller to filter peaks.
What supply voltage is required?
Typically 12–30 V DC (model/signal dependent). Observe allowable ripple and provide sufficient current headroom for 4–20 mA loops.
What is the correct wiring?
- 4–20 mA (2-wire): connect +/− in series through the analog input.
- 0–10 V (3-wire): wire +Ub, GND and Signal separately; avoid ground loops.
Which EMC practices are recommended?
Use shielded, twisted-pair cable; ground the shield at one end; ensure equipotential bonding; route power and signal cables separately.
What IP ratings and environments are supported?
Depending on model up to IP67/IP69K, with high vibration/shock resistance—ideal for mobile hydraulics and outdoor use.
Are there Ex or special versions?
Project-specific variants for ATEX/IECEx zones and hygienic applications are available—please inquire with your requirements.
How often should I calibrate?
Recommendation: annually; for QA/safety loops semi-annually/quarterly or after overload/service. ISO/DAkkS certificates available.
Can the sensors be integrated into IIoT solutions?
Yes—via analog inputs of an edge gateway; the gateway publishes securely via MQTT/HTTPS to SCADA/cloud. Models with digital interfaces are also available (project dependent).
Typical error causes & fixes?
- Range too small → overload → select higher range
- Strong pulsation → noise/wear → add snubber/damping
- Wrong seal → leakage → verify/replace material
- EMC/ground loops → offset/drift → optimize shielding/grounding
Do you support selection, documentation and commissioning?
Yes—from media/material checks and sizing to calibration and commissioning, including test reports and BOMs.
