WIKA Pressure Sensors – Analog Precision for Industry & Process
WIKA pressure sensors/transmitters deliver reliable, continuous readings via 4–20 mA or 0–10 V signals—ideal for gauge, absolute and differential pressure from vacuum to high pressure. Depending on the application, they use ceramic, piezoresistive, thin-film or capacitive sensing elements. Variants with 316L stainless steel, optional Hastelloy®/Monel® and suitable seals (FKM, EPDM, PTFE/FFKM) ensure high resistance—even in harsh environments.
ICS Schneider Messtechnik supports you with sizing (range, accuracy), correct materials/seals, the right process connection and protective measures (snubber, cooling element, diaphragm seal). On request, we provide ISO/DAkkS calibration and integrate your measuring points into a PLC/DCS or optional IIoT stack.
FAQ on WIKA Pressure Sensors (Analog)
Selection, signals, accuracy, installation, media, EMC and documentation—concise and practical.
Which output signals are available?
| Signal | Type | Benefit | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4–20 mA | Current, 2-wire | Highly EMC-robust, long cables | Industrial/process |
| 0–10 V | Voltage, 3-wire | Simple evaluation | Building/HVAC, OEM |
| Ratiometric | Voltage | Low power demand | Embedded/OEM |
How do I select the right measuring range?
Rule of thumb: working pressure × 1.3–2.0. With pulsation/spikes, choose a higher range or add a snubber/orifice.
What accuracies are typical?
Depending on model ±0.25…1.0% FS. For QA/test, select variants with a tighter Total Error Band (TEB).
Which process connections does WIKA offer?
| Connection | Standard | Note |
|---|---|---|
| G 1/4, G 1/2 | ISO 228 (BSPP) | Industrial standard |
| ¼″ / ½″ NPT | ASME | Tapered, self-sealing |
| M20×1.5 | ISO metric | EU process industry |
| Hygienic (Tri-Clamp/Varivent®) | EHEDG | With/without diaphragm seal |
What should I consider for media compatibility?
316L covers many media; for highly corrosive media use Hastelloy®/Monel® and select suitable seals (FKM/EPDM/PTFE/FFKM). Always check compatibility tables.
How do I protect the sensor against pressure spikes?
Use snubbers/orifices, capillaries or a diaphragm seal. Additionally enable measurement damping/filtering in the controller/PLC.
What supply voltage do analog transmitters need?
Typically 12–30 V DC. Observe allowable ripple and ensure sufficient current headroom (4–20 mA loops).
What is the correct wiring?
- 4–20 mA (2-wire): wire +/− in series through the analog input.
- 0–10 V (3-wire): +Ub, GND, Signal separately; avoid ground loops.
Which EMC measures are recommended?
Use shielded, twisted-pair cable; ground the shield on one side; ensure equipotential bonding; route power and signal separately.
What temperatures are permitted?
Model/datasheet dependent. For hot media use a cooling element/siphon or remote mount; consider temperature effects (TEB).
Are options available for hazardous or hygienic applications?
Yes—selected WIKA models feature ATEX/IECEx approvals and hygienic versions (EHEDG). Please inquire with your requirements.
How often should I calibrate?
Recommendation: annually; QA/safety loops semi-annually/quarterly or after overload/service. ISO/DAkkS certificates available.
Can I connect analog WIKA sensors to IIoT?
Yes—via analog inputs of an edge gateway (publishing via MQTT/HTTPS to SCADA/cloud). For pure bus integration, WIKA also offers variants with IO-Link/HART/Modbus.
What are common error sources and fixes?
- Range too small → overload → select higher range
- Pulsation → noise/wear → add snubber/damping
- Wrong seal → leakage → verify material compatibility
- EMC/ground loops → offset/drift → optimize shielding/grounding
Do you support selection & documentation?
Yes—from media/material check, sizing/drawings and calibration to commissioning, including test reports and BOMs.
