FEMA DDCM Differential Pressure Monitors for Liquids and Gases
FEMA DDCM differential pressure monitors are used for reliable monitoring and control of differential pressures in systems with liquids and gases. They detect the pressure difference between two measuring points and switch as soon as the set differential pressure is reached. This makes them suitable for industrial monitoring, control and protection functions in process plants, pipelines, pump systems and filter systems.
The DDCM series is particularly suitable for differential pressure monitoring, flow monitoring and automatic control of filter systems. A dual-chamber system with a stainless steel bellows or Perbunan diaphragm detects the difference between the two applied pressures. The required switching pressure can be continuously adjusted within the respective setting range.
Depending on the version, different pressure ranges are available, from low mbar ranges up to several bar. The ICS page lists variants with setting ranges such as 4–25 mbar, 20–160 mbar, 100–600 mbar, 0.2–1.6 bar, 1–4 bar, 0.5–6 bar and 3–16 bar. The maximum permissible pressure depends on the device version and is, for example, 0.5 bar, 3 bar, 15 bar or 25 bar depending on the type.
The switching differential of DDCM differential pressure monitors is not adjustable. Depending on the variant, versions with gold-plated contacts, Ex-i suitability, ATEX design or service function are available. All differential pressure monitors can also be used in the negative pressure range if the application and technical data of the respective version allow it.
Typical Applications
- Differential pressure monitoring in industrial systems
- Automatic monitoring and control of filter systems
- Flow monitoring in pipelines and process systems
- Monitoring of pumps, heat exchangers and assemblies

FEMA DDCM Differential Pressure Monitors at ICS Schneider
ICS Schneider offers FEMA DDCM differential pressure monitors for a wide range of industrial applications. The devices are suitable for operators, plant manufacturers and service companies that need to reliably monitor differential pressures in liquid or gas processes.
When selecting the correct DDCM differential pressure monitor, the medium, differential pressure range, required switching point, maximum permissible system pressure, switching differential, measuring element material, electrical switching capacity, contact material, protection rating, Ex requirements and installation situation should be considered. For safety-related applications or aggressive media, suitability should be checked based on the technical data.
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about FEMA DDCM Differential Pressure Monitors
1. What is a FEMA DDCM differential pressure monitor?
A FEMA DDCM differential pressure monitor is a mechanical switching device used to monitor the pressure difference between two measuring points. When the set differential pressure is reached, the device actuates an electrical switching contact.
2. What is the DDCM series used for?
DDCM differential pressure monitors are used for differential pressure monitoring, flow monitoring and automatic control of filter systems. Typical applications include filters, pumps, pipelines, heat exchangers and process plants.
3. Which media are DDCM differential pressure monitors suitable for?
The devices are intended for applications with liquids and gases. Exact suitability depends on the medium, pressure range, temperature range and wetted materials of the respective version.
4. How does a DDCM differential pressure monitor measure the pressure difference?
The pressure difference is detected via a dual-chamber system. Depending on the version, a stainless steel bellows or Perbunan diaphragm is used. When the set differential pressure is reached, the measuring element actuates a microswitch.
5. Is the switching pressure adjustable?
Yes. The required switching pressure can be continuously adjusted within the respective setting range. This allows the differential pressure monitor to be adapted to the application.
6. Is the switching differential adjustable?
No. The switching differential of DDCM differential pressure monitors is not adjustable. It is fixed depending on the respective device type and pressure range.
7. Which setting ranges are available?
Depending on the type, various setting ranges are available, for example 4–25 mbar, 20–160 mbar, 100–600 mbar, 0.2–1.6 bar, 1–4 bar, 0.5–6 bar or 3–16 bar.
8. Can DDCM differential pressure monitors be used in the negative pressure range?
Yes. DDCM differential pressure monitors can also be used in the negative pressure range, provided that the respective device version and application are suitable.
9. Can DDCM devices be used for filter monitoring?
Yes. Filter monitoring is a typical application. As the filter becomes increasingly clogged, the pressure loss rises. The DDCM detects this difference and can provide a maintenance, alarm or switching signal.
10. Are Ex or ATEX versions available?
Yes. Depending on the variant, DDCM differential pressure monitors are available with Ex-i suitability or as ATEX versions. The exact selection depends on the zone, circuit, medium and system requirements.
11. What is the difference between DDCM and DPS?
The DDCM is an industrial differential pressure monitor for liquids and gases with various pressure ranges up to the bar range. The DPS, on the other hand, is mainly intended for low air differential pressures in ventilation and air conditioning systems.
12. What information is important for selecting the correct device?
Important information includes the medium, differential pressure range, required switching point, maximum system pressure, temperature, process connections, switching differential, electrical switching capacity, contact material, protection rating, Ex requirements and installation situation.
