FEMA DPSL Differential Pressure Switch for Gas and Liquids
The FEMA DPSL differential pressure switch is used for monitoring differential pressure, vacuum and overpressure in applications with liquids and gases. It is suitable for neutral and slightly aggressive liquids as well as non-flammable gases and provides a compact solution for industrial monitoring and switching tasks.
The DPSL series can be used for differential pressure monitoring as well as for overpressure or vacuum monitoring. In combination with a suitable orifice plate, the switch can also be used as a flow switch. This makes it highly versatile for process plants, mechanical engineering, filter monitoring, pump systems and technical utility systems.
The pressure connection is G1/8" according to DIN 259 or 1/8" BSP female thread. The electrical connection is made via screw terminals. The switching housing consists of brass with a plastic cover, and the diaphragm is made of EPDM. The protection rating is IP54. The permissible temperature range for both medium and ambient conditions is -10 to 80 °C.
Thanks to its mechanical operating principle, the DPSL requires no additional auxiliary power for pressure detection. The applied differential pressure acts on a diaphragm, which actuates a switching contact. The differential pressure switch can therefore be used for limit monitoring, alarm functions or control tasks in various plant areas.
Typical Applications

FEMA DPSL Differential Pressure Switch at ICS Schneider
ICS Schneider offers the FEMA DPSL differential pressure switch for applications with liquids and gases. The switch is suitable for operators who require a mechanical and robust solution for monitoring differential pressure, vacuum or overpressure.
When selecting the correct device, the medium, differential pressure range, maximum system pressure, temperature, chemical compatibility of the EPDM diaphragm, process connection, electrical integration and ambient conditions should be considered. For applications with flammable gases, aggressive media or safety-related functions, the suitability of the device should be checked on a case-by-case basis.
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about the FEMA DPSL Differential Pressure Switch
1. What is the FEMA DPSL differential pressure switch?
The FEMA DPSL is a mechanical differential pressure switch for liquids and gases. It monitors pressure differences and can also be used for vacuum or overpressure monitoring depending on the application.
2. Which media is the DPSL suitable for?
The DPSL is suitable for neutral and slightly aggressive liquids as well as non-flammable gases. The compatibility of the EPDM diaphragm with the specific medium should be checked before use.
3. Can the DPSL be used with flammable gases?
No. The DPSL is intended for non-flammable gases. For flammable gases, suitable and approved pressure monitors or differential pressure switches should be used.
4. Can the DPSL be used as a flow switch?
Yes. In combination with a suitable orifice plate, the DPSL can be used as a flow switch. In this case, the pressure difference generated by the flow is monitored.
5. What type of pressure does the DPSL monitor?
The DPSL monitors relative differential pressure. Depending on the connection and application, it can also be used for overpressure or vacuum monitoring.
6. What is the maximum pressure of the DPSL?
The maximum pressure is 10 bar. This value must not be exceeded during design or operation.
7. What pressure connection does the DPSL have?
The pressure connection is G1/8" according to DIN 259 or 1/8" BSP female thread.
8. What electrical connection does the DPSL use?
The electrical connection is made via screw terminals. This allows easy integration into control systems, alarm circuits or monitoring systems.
9. What protection rating does the FEMA DPSL have?
The DPSL has protection rating IP54. Actual suitability also depends on the installation location, ambient conditions and correct installation.
10. What material is the diaphragm made of?
The diaphragm is made of EPDM. This material is suitable for many neutral and slightly aggressive media but must be checked for chemical compatibility with the specific medium.
11. What temperature range can the DPSL be used in?
The permissible temperature range for both medium and ambient conditions is -10 to 80 °C.
12. What applications is the DPSL particularly suitable for?
The DPSL is suitable for differential pressure monitoring, filter monitoring, flow control using orifice plates, vacuum monitoring, overpressure monitoring as well as pump and pipeline monitoring.
