With the introduction of the standards – DIN ISO 9001: 2000 – the monitoring of test and measuring equipment has taken on a high priority within the quality management system.
With the introduction of the standards – DIN ISO 9001: 2000 – the monitoring of test and measuring equipment has taken on a high priority within the quality management system.
This means that measurement technology that is used to achieve product quality should ensure that it delivers measured values that come as close as possible to the true value and that in any case achieve the required tolerance value at all times with the required accuracy.
The question is very often asked when the cheaper ISO 9001 factory calibration compared to DKD (DAkkS) calibration would be sufficient as a recalibration measure.
ISO factory calibration certificates are created with standards that are subject to regular test equipment monitoring; the traceability of the standards used is ensured by regular test equipment monitoring.
Factory calibration certificates can be considered sufficient if the calibration accuracy of the measuring and testing equipment is important, but the equipment does not serve as a standard.
DAkkS calibration certificates are created using standards whose traceability is guaranteed by DAkkS certificates or by calibration certificates from the PTB laboratories. DAkkS calibration certificates can only be issued by the calibration laboratories accredited by the PTB within the scope of the accredited measured variables.
This ensures that regular auditing, traceable standards, precisely defined environmental conditions and specially trained personnel ensure high-quality calibration. These costly and personnel-intensive measures result in a higher price, but also in the necessary reliability of the measurement results.
