Differential Pressure Sensor – Design Note

The differential pressure sensor is partially isolated. The high-pressure port (P1) is fully isolated from the pressure medium. In the low-pressure port (P2), the silicon element is directly exposed to the medium. For media compatibility details, refer to specification document 158M5591.

This product may only be used if the medium is known and proven compatible with the silicon and adhesive used on the low-pressure side.

The system pressure (line pressure) is the static pressure acting on both ports.

Druck – Proven Sensor Series for Aerospace Applications

Druck aerospace sensors are specifically designed and tested to withstand the extreme demands of aerospace environments.

Our sensors are based on highly reliable silicon chips manufactured in Druck’s state-of-the-art 21st-century cleanroom facility. The piezoresistive technology has been continuously developed for nearly 50 years and is widely used in both airborne and ground-based aerospace applications.

This compact, analog sensor technology offers outstanding performance across a wide pressure and temperature range, making it particularly well-suited for use in hydraulic systems.

The product operates entirely without microprocessors, enabling high reliability even under extreme temperatures. The conditioned millivolt output is delivered via a 4-wire configuration.

Precise Measurement Technology for New Challenges in Aerospace Applications

reinraum

Flight Test Facilities and Laboratories

Druck’s sensor solutions are essential for flight test facilities where the highest demands are placed on measurement accuracy, reliability, and repeatability. They are used wherever precise pressure measurement is critical for the validation of components, systems, and complete aircraft.

  • Engine parameters: Monitoring inlet, combustion, and exhaust pressures for the analysis of thermodynamic efficiency, turbine performance, and safety margins.

  • Hydraulic systems: Monitoring system pressure in control and landing gear components to ensure proper function under real-world flight conditions.

  • Fuel distribution: Measuring pressure levels in fuel lines, tanks, and pumps to optimize flow, consumption, and redundancy.

  • Cabin pressure profiles: Continuous monitoring of cabin pressure during flight maneuvers, emergency scenarios, or altitude chamber testing.

Thanks to their excellent long-term stability, flight qualification (e.g., RTCA DO-160G), and compact design, Druck sensors can be easily integrated into existing test systems. They deliver precise measurement data for the validation of airframes, propulsion systems, and subsystems—both in wind tunnels and during actual flight tests.

They make an indispensable contribution to the safety, efficiency, and certifiability of modern aerospace systems.
