Plastic Machines

The range of plastic processing machines is as extensive as the products they produce. While a facility for producing blown film, producing barrier films, breathable films, heavy-duty bags, adhesive tapes, or labels, differs significantly from an injection molding machine used for manufacturing children’s toys, housing parts, transparent vehicle headlights, or medical components, the fundamental function of all these machines is processing plastic granules. These are melted and shaped into the desired form. A central component in this process is the extruder screw, surrounded by heating sleeves that melt the granules and generate the necessary pressure for extrusion. The preparation process of the granules, including dedusting and drying, is essential as particles and moisture can significantly affect product quality.
Measuring instruments play a crucial role in various areas of plastic machinery:
- Closing force at the injection tool is monitored by hydraulic pressure or force sensors.
- The temperature at the injection tool and that of the plastic melt are measured by temperature sensors or thermocouples.
- System pressure is controlled by pressure transmitters, switches, or pressure gauges.
- The oil level in the tank is checked by float switches or optoelectronic switches.
- The temperature of the hydraulic oil is regulated by temperature sensors or switches.
Precise measurement and control of the melt temperature are crucial for the quality of the end product, which must be kept within tight tolerances. Adequate flowability is required for efficient filling of the injection mold, with the maximum temperature not to be exceeded to avoid material damage.
The pretreatment of the granules is as necessary as the precise temperature control of the injection molding tools by external temperature control units to ensure product quality. Our measuring instruments provide accurate, robust, and reliable solutions in all these areas to support the production of high-quality plastic products. These devices are indispensable for the safe operation of the machines and the preservation of productivity by increasing process efficiency and helping to minimize downtime.
