Test chains are accessory components for belt scales and enable belt scale calibration when direct material testing is not possible or practical. They simulate a defined material load on the conveyor belt and therefore support controlled and repeatable adjustment of the weighing system.
During calibration, the test chain is positioned on the belt. Due to its defined weight and smooth movement, it creates a simulated load that can be used to check and adjust the belt scale. This allows the scale to be calibrated even when conveyed material is not available for an actual material test.
The test chains are designed for harsh industrial applications. A reinforced design provides long service life, while precision-manufactured components support accurate and repeatable calibration. The link chain design ensures smooth rotation and movement during the calibration process.
Test chains are available in different capacities to suit various belt scales and application conditions. The minimum length is 1.2 m / 4 ft. For particularly easy handling, the test chain can be combined with a reel device so that the chain can be placed on the belt in a controlled manner and retrieved again after calibration.
Typical applications include plants where material tests cannot be carried out for operational, logistical or technical reasons. These include bulk material handling systems, process plants, conveyor installations and applications with difficult-to-access or continuously operating conveyor lines.
