- Chemical industry
- Steel industry
- Mining
- Utilities

Measuring principle
The SITRANS FM MAG 3100 works according to the electromagnetic measuring principle. When an electrically conductive liquid flows through a magnetic field, a voltage is induced. This voltage is proportional to the flow velocity of the medium and is detected by electrodes.
Since there are no moving parts in the measuring tube, the measuring principle is particularly low-wear. This is a major advantage for media containing solids, abrasive components or for applications where high plant availability is required.
Design and material selection
The sensor is designed as a fully welded construction. This design increases mechanical stability and reduces maintenance requirements. Depending on the application, different liners and electrode materials can be selected to achieve good chemical resistance against the respective process medium.
A reinforced PFA liner is available for particularly demanding requirements. It provides very good performance under vacuum conditions and at high process temperatures up to 150 °C. For even higher temperatures, the SITRANS FM MAG 3100 HT can be used.
SENSORPROM technology
SENSORPROM technology enables automatic uploading of sensor settings and calibration data. This simplifies commissioning and supports correct assignment of sensor and transmitter data. Especially during replacement, service or parameterization, this reduces the effort required on site.
Protection rating and operating conditions
For demanding environmental conditions, optional IP68 / NEMA 6P protection is available. This version can be supplied from the factory or retrofitted on site. This makes the sensor suitable for installations in wet, flood-prone or difficult-to-access areas.
